AMPAS Kicks Off Seventh Year

For the seventh year in a row, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has unveiled the Academy Gold Rising programme for advancing professional careers. Gold Rising works with a wide variety of studios and businesses to give trainees and young experts from underserved communities a leg up in the film industry.

This year’s roster includes 21 film and home entertainment companies and 90 trainees. The eight-week course kicked up on a Wednesday with a two-day orientation that included visits to the Margaret Herrick Library and the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, as well as a discussion of the Academy Film Archive.

On August 10, there will be a commencement ceremony for the Gold Rising programme. At the end of the course, participants will be compared to an Academy member and given the opportunity to work with that person as a mentor for a period of eight months.
