The second-seeded Boston Celtics defeated the third-seeded Philadelphia 76ers 112-88 in Game 7 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series on Sunday in Boston, thanks in large part to a clutch performance by Jayson Tatum. Tatum broke the Game 7 record with 51 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals. In his stat line, Jaylen Brown had 25 points and 6 rebounds.
Again, the 76ers’ best players failed to perform under pressure and ultimately cost them the game. James Harden scored 9 points, grabbed 6 boards, and dished out 7 assists, while Joel Embiid finished with 15 points and 8 boards.
The Eastern Conference finals between the Celtics and the No. 8 seed Miami Heat will begin on Wednesday in Boston.
