Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell claims he’s terrific, but he froze for a whole minute in the middle of a news conference, making it clear that he’s not.On Capitol Hill on a Wednesday, the senator was speaking with reporters when he suddenly stopped talking and stared straight ahead. After more than 30 seconds of him staring straight ahead without moving or making a sound, he was led away from the camera.Later, when he returned to the stage to answer questions from reporters, the 81-year-old Kentucky lawmaker explained what had happened: “No, I’m great.”
What exactly happened to Mitch is unclear at this time, although in March he was hospitalised with a concussion after slipping and falling in a Washington, DC hotel. He didn’t think the fall had anything to do with what was happening now.One of McConnell’s aides reportedly told CNN’s Manu Raju that the senator was feeling “light-headed” and needed to take a break.
Since April, he has been actively serving in the Senate again. We contacted his office to get additional details about the situation, but haven’t heard back as of yet.
