These days, a new crop of promising sports stars is coming of age and raking in the dough. In 2022, eight of the highest-paid female athletes in the world collected at least $10 million, up from four the year before and the most since Forbes began compiling the list in 2008.

This year sees the addition of four women to the roster, including freestyle skier Eileen Gu and tennis stars Emma Raducanu, Iga wwitek, and Coco Gauff.

An estimated $285 million was earned by the top 25 female professional athletes in 2022 before taxes and agents’ fees, with the top 10 earning $194 ,000,000 of that total. This is an increase of 17% from the record $167 million earned by the top 10 in 2021. Osaka earns $51.1 million in income, putting her ahead of Williams, who earns $41.3 million, for the third year in a row.

Athletes should expect their salaries to rise steadily as attendance, television ratings, and corporate sponsorships all look to be on the upswing, and as new investors bolster league and team coffers.Elizabeth Lindsey, president of brands and residential/commercial properties at Wasserman, says, “I inform suppliers and brand names this all the time.”

“Ignore at your peril because the future is unquestionably female, your audiences are requiring it, and those who get included, and get included early, will profit from doing good and doing great business at the same time,” she said.
